Distance learning or distance education is an area of education, which concentrates on the andragogy and pedagogy, technology, and the instructional systems designing deliver education to those students who are not present physically. Rather than visiting courses personally, students and teachers can communicate sometimes of their own selecting by exchanging electronic or printed media, or via technology allowing them to converse in real time and via other online ways. Such courses demand a physical on-site attendance for any cause comprising the taking of exam is regarded to be a blended or hybrid course of study.
Six types of distance learning courses:
1. Correspondence managed via regular mail.
2. The Internet managed either asynchronously or synchronously.
3. Telecourse or broadcast, in that content is delivered through television or radio.
4. CD-ROM, in that a student interacts with the computer content kept on a CD-ROM
5. Pocket PC or mobile learning when a student accesses the course content held on the mobile device or via a wireless server.
6. And integrated distance learning, the integration of live, interaction with a distance education curriculum or in-group instruction.
Today distance education is considered one the best and convenient ways of getting desirable education while staying at home.
