Everybody knows the proverb that it is never late to learn. Sometimes the process of learning can take even the whole life. To help this learning during life, there are many options, thanks to the world turning into a worldwide village. Moreover, taking into consideration competition today, the only possible decision is good education and successful career.

Distance Education becomes more and more popular all over the world as it has a lot of benefits and advantages. The main advantage is that a people can keep on getting education while continuing their work. This kind of education gives excellent opportunity to combine working and studying, getting the experience and education at the same time.

Students can choose various courses and they do not need to attend usual classes. With the development of modern technologies it is not necessary to attend classes, as it is possible to get material through internet. There are many courses that are very popular among the students: extensive information on supervisory education, managing studies, trends, and courses available.

The distance education is also possible abroad and all the information is classified country wise and everything what is needed is just choosing the country. While choosing career, distance education is the respectable options to obtain best education, many people study at these universities to get require qualitative knowledge to effect positive change in modern society.

Distance Education is a complete education and open learning programs and it provides studying any time convenient for the students. Day after day more and more people choose this kind of education as id does not interrupt their work.  So it does not matter whether it is choosing the correct career path, looking for admission in colleges, supporting education or looking for professional advice. There is no need to say that distance education is a benefit for the students, parents and teachers as well, more like for anyone who is interested in education.

A Look at Distance Education

 Distance education is invented for those who are not able to visit standard classes because a physical disability or work. It is a kind of education is a field of education by means of technology and instructional systems for students who are not physically able to receive their education. This education offers a lot of different methods of giving education. It can be through Internet or by mail correspondence.

  University of South Africa is one of the oldest establishments of distance education from 1946, though in Britain this education has been available since the 1840s.

 From the very beginning of its existence distance education used viable correspondence to deliver materials to the student. A lot of colleges in America use distance education today, though any student can receive it, not just the disabled.  A lot of students have one class by Internet in semester by means of webcam. For getting distance education it is important to know the options delivered to you. For many students the most preferable choice is called virtual classrooms which are watched on laptop over a live webcam feed.

 Of course there is a difference between open learning and distance learning.  When having open learning, student is allowed to choose the time and place of learning. Distance learning is when the student and teacher are not capable to meet at the same time. This is significant because not all open learning schools offer distance learning and not all schools provide distance educations are open learning schools.

 Nowadays the popularity of distance education grows as many more schools start using virtual classrooms and provide more options for the disabled and those who can not attend classes. Many teachers consider being distance education teachers and it is very convenient as the teacher can choose the tine of the lesson recording and send it to the students any time they want. Distance education is very convenient as it gives the opportunity for many students who were initially unable to attend school to do so and it gives teachers the chance to teach more students.

Distance education or distance learning, as it is called is a way of education by means of correspondence or any other means of modern technology. It becomes more and more popular, especially among those who are working and do not want to leave their working places to attend usual Universities. Distance education pays special attention to delivering quality education for students who are not personally present. University of South Africa founded in 1946 is one of the oldest distance education universities.

 The beginning of the distance education is the 19th century (1840) when Sir Isaac Pitman, the inventor of shorthand, made up his mind to offer courses through mail. In 1969, the establishment of the United Kingdom’s Open University was the beginning of a significant change in the area of distance education.  After this a number of other open universities followed the development of distance education.

 Modern tines brought their own changes in the system of such education, as a lot of means of getting appeared. In up to date distance education, educational guides are given to the students by means of various ways such as tutorials, audiotapes, videos, satellite broadcasts and CD-ROMs.  Such methods of sending as distant databases, e-mail, and video conferencing are also used.  It is not only very interesting, but very convenient as well, as students can listen or watch them as many times as they need. Video conferencing helps a teacher distribute lectures to various groups in other classrooms, virtual classroom as they are called.  A variety of facilities and services offered by means of the network include online registration, access to online video materials, distribution of course materials and steady communication with professors, instructors and other students through e-mail.

The biggest part of universities in the United States possesses distance-learning programs. It has a lot of advantages. One of the disadvantages of the programs is their high cost. However, the potential of distance education are increasing day by day. It goes without saying that in the near future, distance education will affect greatly the institutions of higher education.

Distance Education Associations

In the United States, there are distance education associations, working at the national and state level. The national level associations are: The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) and finally the Federal Government Distance Learning Association (FGDLA).

The Distance Education and Training Council serves to clarify information about the distance study of every field. This association is entitled to give accreditation of distance education in the US. This accreditation is institutional and having it, it is possible to use it in the accredited institution and its accepted programs. The main fact is that all these programs under the ownership, organization, and control of the accredited institution and they are included in the accreditation, or none can be accredited. Institutions that have the accreditation of the DETC have the reputation known of sophisticated and well developed student services with well-structured program and world-class faculty.

The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) is controlled by direction of the United States Distance Learning Association. It gives direct broadcast educational programs for Higher Education, Teacher Professional Development and General Public constituencies. It has different kinds of courses of different subjects.

 As for the Federal Government Distance Learning Association (FGDLA), it promotes the growth and submission of distance learning. All these associations give education of high quality that is accepted as the best all around the world.

 Among the state level associations are: Florida Distance Learning Association (FDLA), Georgia Distance Learning Association (GDLA), and Michigan Association for Distance Learning (MADL). They also serve to promote distance education learning and development in the states they are located in. The main aim of such distance establishments is to support the development of distance education knowledge, possessions and technologies. These associations help some nations to develop and improve the quality of education.
